Self Analysis - Final Project

Eliza Kroll

For my final project, I chose the theme “What happens at night.” I interpreted this by photographing the architecture around campus at night and in the twilight. I chose to draw the inside of Evan’s Dining Hall, an exterior shot of Main, and an outside view of McCain Library. For my materials, I decided to use mainly acrylic ink. I did some detail work with a white gel pen and colored pencil. I decided to use a limited color pallet. I used an analogous color pallet with blue, violet, and red. I struggled a good bit with my final project. I struggle a lot with perfectionism, which definitely came out during this assignment. I struggled with making my lines smooth and with producing gradients. I believe that my picture of Evan’s Dining Hall is the most successful out of my three drawings. I think that this is due to how much time I spent on not only the sketches but also on the finished product. If I were going to re-do this assignment, I would spend a greater amount of time on my image of McCain Library. I would also try to be less stressed during the creation of my art.
